Hi, I’m Karla!
A Puerto Rican writer, director, and comedian with additional experience as a 1st AD, video editor, and photographer. I’ve worked for many different companies- but enough about that! I recently premiered my sketch comedy show pilot, The Funkee Sketch Show.
It originally premiered at the 2025 HollyShorts Film Festival where it was nominated for Best Web Series but it also *won* Best Comedy Series and Audience Pick at the 2025 Laugh After Dark ComedyFest in Vegas! It’s pretty good if you ask me- but I wrote, directed, edited, and starred in it (do not recommend!) so I may be a little biased.
I’m also an event producer! I curate and host monthly shows that are focused on creating spaces of inclusion, diversity, and experimentation for performers across the arts. You can catch “Earthlings” quarterly in Echo Park or “The FU Variety” show… whenever I feel like like doing it- it’s fun to keep ’em guessing! The shows can get real weird but it’s a guaranteed good time- and free!
I love cultivating conversation and activating the soul whether one-on-one or in a group setting. And I am soooo done pretending like I am the only one who is a human simply trying to figuring sh*t out! I truly believe the world needs to talk more. Share more. Chalant more! They don’t want you to interact with each other, you guys!! (You can decide who “they” are)
So, my goal: Connect people through laughter and remind people (and myself) that we are not alone.
